A YOUNG Penryn Saracens side notched close to a half century of points in an entertaining and topsy turvy encounter away to the Pirates Amateurs Reserves.

Borough travelled with a bear 15 to Penzance against a Pirates side who drafted in several first teamers after their game was called off earlier in the day.

Saracens were sprinkled with first team experience, with Adam Hughes and Matt Williams in particular scoring tries either side of two from the hosts.

Further tries from Ben Harris and Dan Woodside, with a Callum Hinchley conversion, put Penryn in control going into the break.

As the adverse weather drew in, Penryn opened up and played some excellent rugby, clinically finishing off long range and ambitious counter attack tries.

Jake Bailey dotted down for a brace of well worked scores which Hinchley converted to further tighten Borough's grip on proceedings.

The hosts responded well though and added a try of their own to keep the match alive, going into the final quarter.

Hughes though had other ideas, scoring twice more from long range to complete his hat-trick and put Penryn well out of site.

The Pirates did hit back at the end with a couple of consolation tries.

All in all, 13 tries were scored in an entertaining fixture considering the poor conditions and more valuable experience for some of the younger Penryn contingent.
