A SPIRITED comeback was held off by Falmouth’s Under 13s as they claimed a 36-27 win at St Ives on Sunday.

Just a week earlier, the young Eagles had recorded their first victory of the season against the same team with a 55-14 success.

It was a much tighter affair this time, even though the hosts were 31-10 down at the interval.

They then put in a dominant second half performance which reduced the deficit to just four points before Guy Brooks scored in the dying minutes to hand Falmouth the win.

St Ives had taken the lead in the first play of the game as they collected their own kick-off and ran over the away side’s try-line.

Falmouth got back on track though when Brooks exploited space to go in under the posts.

The lead was regained by the Saints’ with another try, but by half time Brooks, Jacob Allies and Harry Kitto all dotted down for Falmouth, with the latter scoring twice.

Determination was shown by the home side in the second period, leading to three tries and a tense finish being set up.

Brooks alleviated the pressure though with his hat-trick try.
