PROP Jamal Ford-Robinson will be leaving the Cornish Pirates to join high flying Greene King IPA Championship side Bristol.

The 21-year-old who grew up in Penryn has signed for the Ashton Gate outfit who are currently second in the table with immediate affect, but will be loaned back to the Pirates for the rest of the season.

Ford-Robinson joined at the Mennaye last summer after a spell with National League Two South club Cambridge, having also represented Cornwall at Twickenham in May.

Former England and Scotland coach Andy Robinson, who is now Bristol's director of rugby, said: "Jamal has perfomed well in the Championship this season with the Cornish Pirates.

"He will stay at the Mennaye for the time being, but could play his part for us later in the season."

Ian Davies, director of rugby with the Pirates, praised Ford-Robinson's efforts since joining the club.

"Jamal has progressed significantly this year at the Pirates and we wish him well for his future," he said.
