A TAG rugby coach who runs teams at Landwednack and Mullion Schools has been nominated for a national award for his work with pupils.

Ted Heaton has been shortlisted for a RFU Rugby Hero Award after being put forward by teachers Sam Jane and Steve Loder.

Since taking up the role, Heaton has helped Landwednack to the South West Area Finals and seen the side win several trophies under his leadership.

He also runs two teams at Mullion and also helps with coaching at Helston RFC.

In a joint statement, Loder and Jane said: “It is fantastic that the hard work and effort Ted puts in for the benefit of our pupils has been recognised and rewarded on such a scale.”
