CORNISH Pirates squad members will be participating in a bespoke refereeing course to gain a more enhanced view on the game's laws.
The sessions which are being run by the Cornwall Rugby Referees Society will give players the opportunity to learn the key skills of officiating matches.
It is hoped the lessons can be transferred to their general understanding on the field and also when coaching at schools and other clubs.
Director of rugby Ian Davies said: "In previous pre-seasons we have had a referee come down to Penzance and spend a day or two with us introducing some of the new law variations that seem to occur each summer.
"This year we have taken an extra step and with the help of the Referees’ Society have scheduled a bespoke course to hopefully confirm that the players do know the laws of the game."
