A UNIQUE ten-a-side competition will be on show at the Mennaye tomorrow, writes Athena Chrysanthou.

The Cornish Pirates will play the Cornish All Blacks, Redruth and St Austell in their pre-season tournament which starts at 2pm in Mennaye Field this Saturday.

With the teams being made up of five forwards and five backs, spectators can expect a full day of exciting high tempo rugby.

Some new laws applying to the game will consist of penalty kicks being taken within 30 seconds of the penalty and temporary suspensions lasting two minutes.

Ben Gilby, press officer for London Cornish and testicular cancer survivor, has arranged a bucket collection and auction in order to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital and Falmouth’s Pant’s Testicular Cancer Charity.

Auction items include t-shirts and tickets for the Barbarian v Samoa game along with non rugby related items.

Admission begins at £5 for adults and £1 for children with Pirates season ticket holders and under 5s entering for free.

Clubhouse bars will be open from 12noon and gates open at 1pm.
