NATIONAL rugby chiefs have given a £10,000 grant to Camborne RFC as part of the Transforming Social Spaces scheme.

In the build up to the World Cup, which starts in September, the Rugby Football Union, based at Twickenham, has given the funding to the club which they will in turn match with cash of their own.

It will be used to help develop facilities at the Cherry and Whites’ home and enhance resources which can be used by the community.

At Crane Park, Camborne are currently refurbishing the clubhouse bar and to help them alongside the RFU money, members of the team’s veterans’ side donated a further £500 to the cause.

After the funds were raised through matches before Christmas against XVs from Pirates’ Amateurs and Helston, a cheque was presented to Town’s secretary Terry Williams.
