A CHARITY match in aid of a rehab centre caring for an ex-Camborne star and Fijian international has been arranged for June 13.

The game will see a Cherry and Whites XV come up against a side selected by the Matavesi family with money going to the Marie Therese House in Hayle.

In March last year, Sireli Matavesi was left paralysed from the neck down after collapsing at home, leading to a vertebrae having to be cut from his spine and fluid drained.

After spending five weeks at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital and then four months recovering in Salisbury, he was then transferred to Marie Therese House to continue his rehab.

The match is being organised by his sons including current Ospreys and Fiji player Josh and Plymouth Albion’s Sam.

Alongside the match, there will also be a tag rugby game between staff at the house and Camborne’s Veterans plus a rugby memorabilia auction featuring a signed All Blacks shirt from New Zealand star Ma’a Nonu.

Tickets and the day’s programme cost £5.
