PENRYN’S Under 13s side put in a dominant display against Camborne on Sunday.

Borough were too hot for the Cherry and Whites as they ran out 38-7 victors at the Memorial Ground.

The visitors had won at the venue when the two sides met last season and where confident of repeating their success again.

However from the start they found themselves pinned back in their own 22 as Penryn’s backs made several great runs while their forwards rucked and mauled well.

This forced the defence of Camborne to be spread and a quick ball to Sam Hammersley to sprint over.

Pressure kept coming from the home pack again opening up space to run around in, giving Sam Aherne the chance to score the first of his two tries.

Dan Price then got in on the act almost immediately from the restart as he raced from the halfway line to dot the ball down.

Their pack remained in dominant mood and Finlay McGougan, who was a powerhouse in the forwards, got a reward for his hard work as he stole the ball from a maul and barged his way over for a try.

Man-of-the-match Aherne scored his second before half time to give Penryn a 31-0 lead at the break.

Camborne flew out of the blocks after the restart forcing Borough’s defence back in their own 22 for ten minutes.

But the home defence stayed firm and killed the pressure off, with special mention to Harry Callaghan who made several good tackles.

A try was scored eventually by Camborne, but Penryn roared back and got another themselves when after stealing a line-out, the ball was worked to Jack Truen to complete the day’s scoring.
