“IT is our time to win.”

This is the belief of Cornwall’s inside centre Nielson Webber as the side head into today’s County Championship Final at Twickenham.

The Redruth star has been involved in the last two final defeats suffered by the Duchy against their opponents Lancashire in 2013 and 2014.

Despite the Red Rose county getting the upper hand in the last couple of clashes, Webber is confident Cornwall will pick up the silverware for the fourth time.

Webber said: “We’ve all got a point to prove against them and credit to Lancashire they are a good side, but I just feel this is our time.

“It would be epic to win, not just for the players but also the supporters as the Trelawny’s Army group always throw their support behind us, spending hours on the road to make us the best supported county and it will be nice to give something back.

“We’ve been working hard on our defence and it is something which has become a mindset.

“On the day though, you’ve got to be willing to put your body on the line for the boys.

“We are all focused on the game and anything good which might happen afterwards will be a bonus.”

Looking at the squad put together for this season’s competition, Webber believes the selectors have got things just right.

He added last Saturday’s fight back against Hertfordshire to make the final will act as a boost should Lancashire take the lead.

“It is almost as if we’ve got the perfect mix of youth and experience,” Webber said.

“At half time against Hertfordshire, we all felt confident and it was a bit weird really because there was not any panic at all.

“It is going to be another step up against Lancashire, but it is one we are capable of doing.”
