A BRILLIANT performance was put in by Falmouth Rugby Club’s Under 14s in their first match of the calendar year in a derby win over Penryn.
First half hat-tricks from Lewis Pirrie and Theo Fleming helped the home side, pictured above, set up a 64-14 victory against their nearest rivals on Sunday.
It was the Eagles’ first game in over a month but they did not resemble a team lacking in match fitness as they started brightly.
Pirrie and Fleming both opened their accounts for the day during the early exchanges before Cameron Hopkins got in on the act with a try.
Penryn rucked hard though to make life difficult for Falmouth, but another two tries each for their hat-trick heroes saw the game stretch out of reach for the visitors by half time.
After the interval, Hopkins added a try to his earlier score before number eight Jago Hammersley and captain Billy Bateson also dotted down over the goal-line.
Daniel Whitford made a fine impression on his debut for the team as he showed strong ball carrying skills and was solid in the scrum.
