A VICTORIOUS start to 2015 was earned by Penryn’s Under 10s against their local rivals Falmouth.

A knock-on by Falmouth near their own goal-line allowed Owen Richards to get the first try of the day as he dived in from a yard out.

The visitors got back on level terms soon after, but straight from the restart Penryn got back in front as Gabriel Verdi weaved past the defence.

Falmouth responded with another try before George Edson crossed the whitewash for Borough to regain the lead.

Defensive pressure led by Toby Pointon and the Allen brothers, Noah and Hugo, resulted in the next score for Penryn as a spillage in possession from Falmouth allowed Kian Crockford to run into space out wide.

In the second half, Falmouth started well before another try was scored by the home team straight from the restart with Matthew McGougan this time muscling in.

Another try for the visitors kept them within reach of their hosts, but Penryn edged further in front with a questionable score.

It appeared a home player had gone for the ball at a ruck while in an offside position, but the referee saw no infringement leading to Billy Jordan going over.

This started a golden period for Penryn as they ran in five more tries before the final whistle with Richards getting his second of the match before Cadan Jordan, Ira Brett, Edson and a brace from Billy Jordan all got on the scoresheet.

In this time, Falmouth were able to pull one back, but it did not shift the momentum at all.
