AFTER several attempts, Falmouth’s Under 13s finally achieved their first win of the season by beating St Ives 55-14 at home.

The cup match saw the hosts play against the breeze in the first half and from the kick-off, they ran the ball back with interest.

Falmouth moved the ball around the pitch and the space they found was exploited by Guy Brooks who ran over for a try inside the first minute.

St Ives went into home territory for a while, but it was the Eagles who increased their lead when Alex Wilson was at the end of a quick move started on their own 22m line.

Set pieces were not quite going Falmouth’s way, but they were driving forward well, with the pack’s power giving them another try.

The Saints’ did get a score on the board before the half was over when they chipped a kick ahead and won the race to the goal area.

Pressure was put back on the visitors after this and a defensive kick was gratefully received by Falmouth, who rolled over for a try.

Harry Kitto, making his debut for the hosts, found time to add one more score before the break.

Proceedings were more cagey in the second half as both sides defended stubbornly.

Isaac Adewole got the first score of the half at the midway point as he stretched his legs out to run in before Kitto added a second to his name.

Jacob Allies picked up Falmouth’s final try of the day, although the last word went to the Saints who pounced on another kick forward.

The win was well merited for Falmouth, who have worked hard throughout the season.
