HEAVY overnight rain had threatened the match between Penryn and Truro’s Under 10s on Sunday.

However, the pitch was passed fit to play on and Borough will be happy it was as they ran out triumphantly to a 60-15 victory.

By the time the match started at 10am, the playing surface had dried out significantly and the weather was ideal for rugby.

Having only narrowly beaten them earlier in the season, Penryn came out focused knowing Truro would be a tough nut to crack.

This determination produced a fine attacking and defensive performance from the home side and by half time, they had scored six tries to Truro’s one.

The visitors put up a stiff challenge for the opening exchanges of the second half, but soon Penryn got back on top and ended the match with 12 tries.

Topping the individual scoring was George Edson who ran over the whitewash six times while Billy Jordan bagged two and Luke Whitford, Matthew McGougan, Ira Brett and Kian Crockford one each.

Man-of-the-Match went to Whitford for his try and very good work in defence.
