EASTER is upon us and once again teams are hoping to have an eggs-cellent time at an annual rugby 7s tournament.

The Penryn Easter 7s takes place on Sunday with about a dozen sides set getting involved in this year’s competition at the Memorial Ground.

Matches start at 12noon and will carry on until 6pm with the main cup and also a plate up for grabs.

Sides will be coming from around Cornwall including last year’s champions the Buzancias along with a team based in Wales for the 2015 edition and organiser Dermot Shier said things are shaping up well.

Shier said: “Preparations so far are going to plan.

“We have space for a maximum of 16 teams to take part and we’ll start off with a pool stage before moving onto the semi finals of both the plate and cup competition.

“Obviously there are prizes to be won, but the whole aim of the contest is to have a fun day of rugby and we hope that is achieved yet again.”

Entry for spectators costs £2 per person with the clubhouse bar open during the day along with the kitchen.

Any teams who are interested in taking part in the competition, which costs £25 to enter, should send an email to dermotshier@gmail.com.

Camping is also available priced at £10-a-night per tent.
