Penryn RFC's Oli Foreman and Zane Goodwin have been drafted in to join Charlie Levick in the Exeter Chiefs U16s squad.

The three Penryn boys travelled up to Warwick School to play in the first Premiership Academy festival of the season.

In the first match against Wasps, Charlie started on the wing with Oli and Zane on the bench. Exeter hoped to reverse the result from the Harrow Festival where Wasps narrowly beat them 15-10.

The Chiefs started strongly, unfortunately too often the final pass or decisions let them down and they lost 20-5. Charlie had a solid display making plenty of penetrating runs and tackled well.

In the second match against Northampton Saints, the new Penryn boys made their debuts, Oli started at 8 with Zane on the wing, with Charlie rested.

Both boys put in a good account for themselves, Foreman put in some immense tackles and made life very difficult for the opposition back row. Not to be outdone, Goodwin also made some great tackles and carried the ball well helping the Chiefs to a 20-10 victory.

The final match of the day saw Chiefs up against a familiar opponent in London Irish, one win a piece, it was bit of a crunch match.

With the Chiefs' coaches putting eight Cornish lads in the starting line-up, it gave the three Penryn boys a chance to play together for the Chiefs for the first time.

Oli started on the blind side, Charlie was moved to his more familiar position in the centre and Zane once again on the wing.

Irish started the strongest, testing the Chiefs defence at every opportunity, the big Irish pack, led by their No.8 (the son of former All Black Zinzan Brooke), proved to be a bit too much for the Chiefs and Irish led 15-0 at half-time.

In the second half the backs started to stretch Irish, with Levick moving the ball more and more to the wide men, this resulted in a fine try finished off well in the corner by Goodwin.

Irish fought back and managed to cross the line twice within a five-minute period, but the last word was had by the Chiefs as they scored in the dying seconds to give a final score of 25-10 to Irish.
