Penryn Rugby Club's annual Easter Sevens will now take place on the second May bank holiday weekend (25th-27th).

A backlog of fixtures has brought about the change and tomorrow's match at Pirates Amateurs will also be in doubt with rain forecast throughout today.

Sevens organiser Jamie Truen said: "With club fixtures being pushed further and further back, including over the Easter weekend and even into May in some cases, we have had to take the difficult decision to move the Penryn Leg of the RFU 24/Sevens event to the end of the rugby season.

"This will ensure that the event will retain the high quality of entrants and rugby action that we aspire to bring to the weekend, which is the only leg of the RFU 24/Sevens tournament to be played in Cornwall."

The exciting event offers not only affordable entry fees, but extremely generous prize money - as entry starts at £100 (including two nights camping), with prize money up to £950 available for the Men's Open Level champions. There will be three competitions taking place - Men's Open, Ladies and Social Level.

The event will now get underway at 6:00pm on Friday 25th May with a Penryn Veterans side will be taking on an England Select Vets outfit which should not be missed. A disco will take place in the evening in the main marquee.

The RFU 24/Sevens action then gets underway from 10:30am on Saturday morning with the Mens Open Preliminary Round and Ladies Prelims. The marquee will be showing the Aviva Premiership Grand Final on a big screen live from Twickenham. A disco will take place in the evening in the marquee with bars open all day.

Sunday the 27th sees the beginning of the Social Sevens competition from 10:30am with the finals of all three competitions taking place at 3pm. The evening sees team fancy dress and live music from Small Wonder.

Borough will hope to play their first game in almost a month when they travel to Pirates Amateurs in Cornwall/Devon League tomorrow.

The hosts look to be a far stronger proposition than they were at the start of the season, when they suffered four heavy defeats.

Once they gained their opening win of the campaign, 22-14 over Wessex, they began to record a series of victories in those all important encounters with the teams around them in the table.

Pirates also provided tough opposition in the previous game this season between the sides at The Memorial Ground on November 11 ended 6-0 in Borough's favour in seriously tough conditions. It was only thanks to two Mitchell Vague penalties that Penryn gained the win.

Also at The Mennaye Field on Saturday are PenFal Colts, who are out to build on their tightly fought clash against Saltash last time out in a bid to claim an all important victory.

After all of last week's postponements, Penryn's under-13s will make the long trip to Polson Bridge to take on their counterparts from Launceston.
