The future of Truro City's currently hangs in the balance after the player's gave the club until 10am on Thursday to pay their wages before they quit.

The decision came at a meeting at training on Thursday night. The players had not been paid last month's wages and after suffering the same situation a number of times last season it appears their patience has run out.

Vice-chairman Chris Webb told the players that chairman Kevin Heaney was in London meeting with investors who want to take over the club.
However, with their opening game in the Blue Square Bet South due to take place on Saturday, August 18, the current situation leaves City with the possibility of the majority of the squad quitting just days before the season is due to start.

This would leave Truro facing the prospect of fulfilling their fixtures with reserve team players or pulling out of the Blue Square Bet South league altogether, and accepting some severe penalties for doing so.

Truro City have reached the Blue Square Bet South, two promotions from the Football League, after a meteoric rise up through non-league football that has seen them gain five promotions in six seasons.

However, last season was a tough one for the club. They only just survived being relegated and appeared in the High Court three times over an unpaid tax bill.

Manager Lee Hodges also had to work under a transfer embargo for most of the season, as the club's financial plight hindered progress on the pitch.

Truro City are set to play a pre-season friendly away at Tiverton Town tomorrow (Saturday).

It is understood that a reserve team is likely to fulfil this fixture, although Tuesday friendly at home to St Blazey is unlikely to go ahead.
