Playing what could well be their final game in the Conference South, Truro City beat Boreham Wood 2-0 at home in an ill-tempered match that saw four players sent-off.

Truro City, who filed for administration on Friday, are facing a bleak future if a buyer can't be found for the club.

However, the players put the off-field problems to one side on Saturday with a great performance at Treyew Road to end Boreham's unbeaten start to the season.

Truro City took the lead in 27th minute when Adam Kelly played in Stewart Yetton who drilled a shot past James Russell.

Three players were then sent-off on the stroke of half-time as Ben Nunn made a bad tackle on City youngster Cody Cooke for which he received a straight red card.

However, the challenge saw Truro’s Jake Ash react and get involved in an tussle with Charlie O'Loughlin. Ash was sent-off for a second booking, while O'Loughlin also saw red.

Boreham Wood had a couple of chances to draw level at the start of the second half, before City extended their lead when full-back Ben Williams rose to head in Kelly's cross.

Boreham Wood were then reduced to eight men with five minutes to go when Luke Garrard grabbed Yetton by the neck.

In the end though it was City's day and a victory for the fans to savour.
Truro are due to face Basingstoke on Tuesday night, but with a court hearing on Monday it is unclear if that game will go ahead.
