Administrators at Truro City FC have been given another week to save the club after players agreed to stay at the club until October 11.

The decision followed a meeting between the players and the administrators, after Truro City's 2-1 win over Bath.

At the meeting it was revealed that there are five or six parties interested in purchasing the club and that the debts were not as bad as first feared.

Explaining the decision, Truro City manager Lee Hodges, said: "I would like to thank everyone for turning up and supporting us again so well last night (against Bath City).

"Hopefully, it was not our last game.  After the match, the squad had a meeting lasting around an hour with three people representing the administrators, with James Moore doing the talking.  We agreed that we will stay on until October 11, by which time hopefully there will be some good news. That is what we are all clinging to.

!I feel that bit more confident after the meeting if only for the fact that they said the debts are 'only' £190,000, which is a lot less than the previous figures mentioned, and even this could be negotiated down to a much smaller sum.  But as I read it, the basic situation remains unchanged.  There are five or six parties who have expressed an interest, but still no sign of any one of them emerging as a firm bidder.  I suggested that the administrators could get some of the interested parties to work together and they agreed that they were looking at this.

"Some of the players will play for other clubs this weekend (when City have no fixture).  I've said I have no problem with that - they need to keep fit and that's their chance to do it.  Then, if an investor comes in by next Thursday, hopefully there will be some money in the accounts which will enable the players to stay on longer and fulfil the fixture at home to Dover Athletic on the Saturday."
