Spring is the long awaited moment for garden lovers. Nowhere can the effect of spring be better appreciated than at Trewithen Gardens, famed for their great collection of camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons and other trees and shrubs from around the world.

Penjerrick

Three miles West of Falmouth on the outskirts of Budock. A 15 acre garden with views of the sea. Created 200 years ago by the Fox family who planted the upper garden with specimens collected abroad. The garden is the home of the Penjerrick and Barclayi rhododendrons. Among the features are a huge beach tree, one of the largest in the country and a jungle-like area with ponds.

Glendurgan Garden

Four miles west of Falmouth, the National Trust garden is above the Helford River. In 1820 it was bought by Alfred Fox who created an informal garden. His shipping company enabled him to import plants. In the 1820s and 1830s the garden was laid out, including a maze. Subsequent generations have enhanced the garden. The sheltered valley ideal for exotic plants.

North-west from Truro is three acres of gardens surrounded a mainly Georgian house, not open to the public. The garden a series of enclosed gardens or outdoor rooms each with its own theme. There are perennial and herbaceous plants for sale.
