The start of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta has been officially launched in Falmouth.
The town is now an hour into the four-day event and already hundreds of people have arrived to enjoy the atmosphere and view the spectacular boats.
Around 80,000 are expected to arrive in the area to line the ten miles of coastline during the event.
Half a dozen Tall Ships have so far arrived in Falmouth, with more expected to sail into the port over the course of today.
The event was officially opened by chairman of the Falmouth Tall Ships Association John Hick, Carrick district council chairman John Dyer and Bernard Heppener, chairman of the Funchal 500 Tall Ships Regatta.
Falmouth is the first of three legs for the regatta, which will move to Portugal before finishing in Madeira.
A video of the launch will be posted online later today.
