Walking with the Packet

Various walks in the countryside and coastal areas of Cornwall will be added from time to time. The walks will be varied and some only suitable for experienced walkers Cornwall's Great Flat Lode Trail It's hard to travel through West Cornwall without seeing a reminder of the county's once thriving tin and copper industry. Most of us, however, drive past the old mine workings without giving them a second glance. Like the sea views and the rolling countryside, we take it all for granted.

Walk around Falmouth

Falmouth has a marvellous heritage and one of the best ways to see and learn about it is by using the Packet Walkway Guide. You follow a trail of attractive plaques that take you to key vantage points in the town, and with the aid of the maps and the accompanying text you can open up the past. The new updated guide follows a similar format to the original guide celebrating the 300th anniversary of the first sailing of the famous Packet Ships from Falmouth.

New trail for walkers and cyclists

After many years of development, the Green Corridor Trail for walkers, cyclists and horse has been opened between St Austell and the Wheal Martyn China Clay Country Park .

South West Coast Path

The South West Coast Path begins at Minehead in Somerset and runs along the part of the Somerset coast, across North Devon, round Cornwall, then South Devon and Dorset to Poole Harbour - a distance of 630 miles. It is the longest path of its type in the country.

Consent key to healing divisions

The Archbishop of Canterbury said he aimed to heal divisions among the 77 million-strong Anglican Communion through "consent, not coercion" as he sought to gain unity.
