A Cornish law firm is hosting The Last Night of the Proms in East Cornwall to help raise funds for a local charity.
Coodes Solicitors are sponsoring the event in aid of local charity "Relate Cornwall" on Sunday, April 13 at Carnglaze Caverns.
The show will include one of the leading operatic soloists in the South West, Cheryl Brendish, together with award winning Helston Town Band. They will perform familiar classic songs, traditional pieces and original Last Night of the Proms music.
Classically trained in London and Australia, Cheryl is recognised as being an accomplished and polished singer who is building an enviable reputation with her dynamic performances in opera, musical theatre and recital work. The Helston Town Band who are well known for its performances on Helston Flora Day, have been playing their brass instruments for over 40 years.
"I am delighted to be a part of the 'Last Night of the Proms' in aid of Relate Cornwall and hope that this will generate a greater awareness and support for the work of the charity. With such rousing music as "Pomp and Circumstance No.1" and "Jerusalem" to get everyone's flags flying we're bound to raise the roof at the Caverns like never before."
Relate Cornwall runs various counselling programmes and is also responsible for Cornwall's child contact centres. This charity is the only organisation in Cornwall that has the valuable child contact centres which offer a neutral meeting ground for young people to access their parents or relatives. The contact centres enable families under going stressful times opportunities to help find time for resolution.
Ian Taylor, family lawyer at Coodes Solicitors and Relate Cornwall trustee said: "These centres are vital for the work carried out by Relate Cornwall. They offer a place for families to meet and spend time together or resolve issues."
Crystal Pearce of Relate Cornwall said: "We encourage people to participate in some form of communication to help alleviate their problems. All of Relate's funding comes from sources within the county.
"Our events really help us deliver a true service for the region, we always look forward to putting on great entertainment and The Last Night of the Proms promises to deliver just that!"
Ian added: "We are delighted to support Relate Cornwall and look forward to bringing the house down with Cornwall's gifted singers and musicians."
