The number of reported incidents of food poisoning has reduced in Croydon. The last year has seen a drop of 22 per cent.

Figures for salmonella shows a continual fall and now represents 13 per cent of total notifications. In contrast cases involving the bacteria campylobacter represents 65 per cent.

Most infections are acquired on foreign travel – 21 per cent – as opposed to eating out at nine per cent and meals prepared at home which represent 12 per cent.
