A summer of fun for children has been planned by a new team at Reigate and Redhill YMCA.

The centre has increased the number of staff involved with children’s activities to ensure that this year’s school holiday playschemes and sports camps are better than ever.

Children’s service manager Hannah Clark, special needs coordinator Vicky Evemy and Oliver Jago, sports camp coordinator, have put together an exciting programme for the school summer holidays for children aged five to 13.

Every weekday, from July 25 until September 2, up to 200 children can take part in the YMCA play schemes either at the centre in Prince’s Road, Redhill, or at St Bede’s School in Carlton Road.

Visits to a zoo and a castle have also been planned and each week will have a theme.

“Mixing with children beyond their friends from school helps to build confi-dence and self esteem,” said Hannah, who began her career with the YMCA as a summer play worker.

“I’m really looking forward to running the playschemes and bringing some new ideas to the role.” As well as the play-schemes, children aged eight to 13 years can take part in the YMCA sports camps which are run in partnership with Reigate and Banstead council from July 28 until August 29.
