MOTORISTS' fears have been allayed after it emerged High Wycombe's parking attendants will not be part of an incentive scheme which rewards them for handing out penalty tickets.

Parking firm National Car Parks (NCP), which took over the contract in Wycombe on April 1 from Sureway, has just launched a pilot scheme in London's Westminster where wardens can win a new car and other prizes by coming top in a number of assessments.

However Anne-Marie Goodbody, the parking representations manager for Buckinghamshire County Council, said it is already in the contract that NCP are not allowed to reward attendants and give commission. She added it was in place when Sureway had the tender.
