Penryn Rugby Club has announced its new Director of Rugby (DOR) Marc Dennis.

Born and raised in London, Marc has played and captained several teams including well known Old Dunstonians.

Marc Joined St Agnes where he played in the front row before taking on the coaching role and winning Cornwall 1.

“I spent the vast majority of my playing time in the front row,” he said. “With stints in the back row, Some will say that although I had 1 or 3 on my shirt I spent most of my time in the Backs'.

The club says Marc has been an “incredible presence” around the club, most recently coaching its Ladies side.

“Having coached the ladies for the last three years and having sat on the Club Committee for the same time I have fully immersed myself in every aspect of the club from watching, coaching, working behind the bar, driving the mini bus for the ladies tour and even cooking for the awards night,” he said.

He said over the years Penryn rugby Club has become family and he is now 100% committed to making the club the best it can be and if he can do that as DOR then I will.’ First on his list of jobs is to implement a new coaching structure for the men with specialist forwards and backs coaches working alongside the head coach, similar to what I made sure was in place for the ladies section before stepping away as their head coach. “This structure for the men and ladies will help not only with player retention but also recruiting new players to the club so that our resurgent men’s 2nd XV and brand new ladies 2nd team thrives in the leagues next season.

“Once this is running smoothly I can look to ensuring the Colts, boys and girls youth sections and minis are all working as effectively and cohesively as possible so the transition into senior rugby is seamless.”
