Five students from Truro College have taken their first steps in achieving a career in acting, and were offered places at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) after ex-Emmerdale star and ALRA’s Head of Acting, Aly Spiro, visited the college and held auditions

Aly Spiro first visited the college at the invitation of drama lecturer Kit Savage, and while talking to the students about drama school and acting as a profession, she was so impressed that she asked ALRA to visit again to hold auditions.

Tom Wiles, performing arts student at Truro College, said: “it was a very humbling experience to have someone from such an acclaimed drama school come down to audition us.”

Tristan Reynolds, another performing arts student, said: “It was a great mix of professionalism and fun and the creativity helped push us forward ... [it] shows that Truro College is doing well and that Performing Arts is a good course to be on, and you can go far with it."

ALRA is a drama school with locations in South West London and Greater Manchester, and has produced actors such as Miranda Hart and Amy Walsh.
