The Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta has revealed many of the organisations, ranging from shipyards to construction services, which will be supporting the event which runs from 28th to 31st August this year.

“We have been given this wonderful opportunity to use Falmouth Harbour for what it is famous for - which is hosting Tall Ships,” said John Hick, chairman of the Falmouth Regatta steering group. “We are again starting the 2014 Tall Ships Regatta in our beautiful port. We welcome partners, sponsors and supporters on board, giving businesses an opportunity to work together to promote Falmouth as one of the finest international sailing ports.”

Port Pendennis Marina, an official partner for the Regatta, are providing berthing facilities for the modern rigged ships and vessels under 40 metres. The marina will not be open to the public, but vessels can be clearly viewed from the Maritime Museum walkway or from Events Square.

The marina was extended in 1998 to provide dockage for larger yachts and hosted vessels during the 1998 and 2008 Tall Ships events.

Marine and Towage Services are supporting the event by providing berthing space for the Tall Ship Mercedes, with access to the public for day sails on Duchy Wharf, in the docks. MTS provides a wide range of marine services from towage, salvage and civil engineering support to ships agency and pilotage, and is also supplying a press boat with skipper for race day to take media out to cover the parade of sail as the ships make their way to the race start.

Event partner Falmouth Festivals will be putting together an exciting programme of activities to appeal to all ages at the Regatta Entertainment Centres at Events Square, Church Street car park and within the docks. Full details of all entertainment will be posted on the regatta website.

Falmouth Festivals co-ordinates the annual programme of activities on Events Square, the purpose built festival space, next to the Maritime Museum, which has hosted hundreds of events over the past nine years - from media events such as Ellen McArthur’s triumphant homecoming and BBC Antique Roadshow, to the annual Oyster, Shanty, Falmouth Week and Fish Festivals, and community events and celebrations.

Mike Rangecroft, director of Falmouth Festivals, said: “Falmouth Festivals are proud to be supporting this year’s Tall Ships Regatta by providing refreshments, entertainment, market stalls and all the fun of the fair on Events Square, Queen’s Wharf in Falmouth Docks and Church Street car park. This gives us the opportunity to demonstrate Falmouth can once again host the best of family entertainment for both locals and visitors.”

Office accommodation for event organisers and volunteers in the docks will be supplied by Midas, as will the hundreds of metres of fencing to safely guide visitors through the docks to visit the magnificent Tall Ships berthed on Queen’s Wharf.

Mike O'Neill, Cornwall and Devon divisional director for Midas, said: “As a local contractor based in Cornwall, we are delighted to sponsor the Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta. The regatta promises to be a fantastic occasion and we look forward to seeing friends and associates during the four day event.”

The Midas Group is an independent construction and property services providers, based in Indian Queens, and has recently completed an £11m contract for the Falmouth-based superyacht builder Pendennis as part of a redevelopment of its shipyard.

Pendennis Shipyard, also an event supporter, will ensure that volunteers and Falmouth Regatta organisers are smart and immediately identifiable, by providing uniform t-shirts for the regatta.

The ships’ liaison volunteers are the glue of the regatta, providing the vital link between the ships and services and activities in Falmouth, whilst the stewards and volunteers help visitors get the very best experience of the event.

As superyacht builders and re-fitters, Pendennis Shipyard has a history covering 25 years, including 30 custom build yachts and 200 refit projects in the 30 to 100m market, and employing over 350 highly skilled trades people.

The shipyard’s sales and marketing director, Toby Allies, said: “We are always very proud to support Cornish sailing and are pleased to be providing the event clothing for this year’s iconic Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta. 2014 will be another record year for large yacht racing in Falmouth, with Pendennis hosting the fourth biennial Pendennis Cup Regatta from the 26th to 31st May which should attract ten to 15 superyachts to race in Cornish waters.”
