Falmouth is preparing to welcome 47 tall ships and sail training vessels from around the world for four days of celebrations, entertainment and festivities from 28th to 31st August this year.

High on the list of ’must see’ attractions will be the spectacular fireworks display, which will take place on Saturday 30th August, to celebrate the ships' last night in port, before the spectacular Parade of Sail on their way to the race start off Falmouth.

The Falmouth organisers are proud to welcome Saga Cruises as an event sponsor, sponsoring the firework display for the Regatta. Saga Cruises has included Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta on their itinerary for the cruise ship Saga Sapphire, which will arrive on August 30 and take in the atmosphere and shoreside entertainment during their visit, with an escorted tour of one of the large A class tall ships for 100 of their guests.

"The Tall Ships events are always very popular with our customers and we are absolutely delighted to be here for the Falmouth regatta. It's a great pleasure for us to also sponsor the fireworks display, which we are sure will be a spectacular event and will add to a thoroughly entertaining evening of celebrations" said Nigel Blanks, director of Saga Cruises.

The firework display, organised by Bodmin based Celebration Pyrotechnics, will wow thousands of onlookers and starts at 9.30pm in Falmouth Harbour. Best vantage points to watch the display will be Custom House Quay, Events Square and the terraces overlooking the harbour.

Sam Groom, event manager, Cornwall Development Company, said: “It is only with the significant support from sponsors and partners that we are able to host the Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta. We thank Saga Cruises for their support and look forward to welcoming Saga Sapphire to Falmouth.

“The cruise liner will have a bird’s eye view of the ships under full sail as they start their journey to London, providing a unique experience for passengers on board.”
