It seems it's not just world leaders unable to resist the lure of Cornwall, after half of one of TV's most famous double acts turned up at a Cornish pub wanting more than a Saturday night takeaway.

The Heron Inn at Malpas was left delighted earlier this week when who should walk in but Declan Donnelly, more commonly seen with on-screen partner and best friend Ant McPartlin.

The co-host of ITV shows such as Britain's Got Talent and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here was said to be with his family when they popped in for dinner on Wednesday evening.

Dec is married to his former agent Ali Astall and they have a two and a half-year-old daughter Isla together.

The Byker Grove child actor, who went on to have a brief singing career with Ant as PJ and Duncan before they launched the TV careers they are now famous for, was happy to pose for a photograph during his visit.

He has been pictured with Heron chef-owner Nick Hemming outside the pub, with its famous views across the River Fal in the background.

Revealing the visit on Facebook on Wednesday, the pub wrote: "We were very honoured to have Declan Donnelly and his beautiful family dine with us this evening.

"Thank you for choosing us, we hope you enjoy everything Cornwall has to offer."

The pub went on to speak of their "excited staff" over the famous customer.

The visit comes just after the Heron Inn announced that it was to open the Heron Farm and Coffee Shop at Malpas Marina, just 50m from the Heron Inn.

On the waterfront, with direct access to the brand new pontoon, it will be serving homemade cakes, coffees, pizzas and local produce for sale, with renovations for the project already started.
