One of Cornwall's spookiest attractions has announced its Scary Cinema nights will be returning from the dead.

Bodmin Jail has launched its summer schedule of Scary Cinema nights with a host of paranormal horror movies getting guests in the mood to go ghost-hunting

Ghoulish guest can enjoy horror flicks such as The Nun, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, IT and See No Evil, kicking off with 'Lights Out' on Thursday July 1.

Showing every Thursday from 9pm, horror lovers can experience a whole evening of scary cinema followed by one of the jail’s trademark Paranormal Tours.

It’s lights out for the start of the film, a short break for refreshments and then the jail’s resident paranormal manager will take viewers on an existential tour of the innermost sanctum of the jail which has a dark, sinister and violent history.

Over the centuries, 35,000 prisoners experienced confinement in its walls, with torturous punishment, monotonous labour, and hanging for those committing the most heinous crimes.

The walls of the attraction are described as being 'home to a dark and disturbing legacy, and as a result it is undeniably the most haunted place in the whole of the UK.'

While the event may not be for the faint-hearted, visitors will be in safe hands with Kirsten Honey, a 'specialist' in paranormal investigation with knowledge of medical, forensic, biological and psychological science.

Scary cinema nights are just one in a suite of activities held at Bodmin Jail.

Others include the After Dark paranormal experience, the Dark Walk and historical tours in and around Bodmin, as well as a variety of special events throughout the year.

The evening, which is rated certificate 18, closes at 1am and is priced at £25 per person.

The attraction is fully accessible, and social distancing and advanced hygiene measures are in place.
