A popular attraction in Helston has announced that it will not be opening in time for the upcoming Easter Holidays.

Helston Railway announced in a statement on Facebook on Saturday, April 2 that it would not be opening for the Easter period but it had planned to open later in the year at a date to be decided.

The statement said: "We know that some of you were hoping we would be open at Easter this year, but that will not be possible, we hope you aren’t too disappointed.

"We do, however, intend to open again later this year and when we have a date agreed we will let you know."

While they remain closed to the public the team is still looking for volunteers to help maintain the facility.

Their current team have been working hard to improve the drainage surrounding the track at Pump House. They have also been doing 'pre-season' training with both their diesel and steam locomotives.

The railway had been closed for the winter periods but had planned to reopen in Spring 2022 according to its website.

Following the Covid pandemic, the railway reopened in August 2021 with a refurbished buffet area and a new train named the Peckett 2000.
