An 18th Century home near Truro will be reopening its doors to the public this week.

On June 15, the team at the National Trust’s Trelissick, near Truro, will re-open the doors of Trelissick house for 2022 with a chance to see the eighteenth-century home in a new way.

As well as spaces dedicated to telling the story of Trelissick and the families that have called the maritime estate home, visitors will be invited to enjoy refreshments from the Kitchen Café in the main ground floor rooms of the house.

Sharing a table in the dining room or relaxing in the library or solarium is the perfect spot to enjoy magnificent coastal views down the Carrick Roads towards Mylor and Falmouth come rain or shine.

Taking inspiration from the many families that have lived at Trelissick or used it as a place to holiday since it was first built 270 years ago, the Trust is keen to allow everyone it welcomes at Trelissick to escape the everyday and enjoy one of its most prominent buildings in Cornwall in a different way.

Gareth Lay, General Manager at Trelissick, said: "The ambition in 2022 is for the house is to become a destination for conversation, contemplation, and relaxation.

"Trelissick house was built here and the estate developed around it because of this position and this view.

"We now want to open the blinds, let the sunshine in and let people make Trelissick their own for the time they are here.

"The families that called this place home for generations used these spaces to relax in, to take in the surroundings, share stories and socialise - and we want our visitors today to be able to do the same.

"This summer we are planning to present the house differently so people to both learn about the story of this special place, but also enjoy our indoor spaces in a way that lets them experience the estate in a new way.

"There will still be rooms open in the house with the purpose of displaying relevant items from our collection and to explain how we care for items that aren’t on display.

"We are also pleased to be able to grow our team of volunteers once again and a huge thank you to them and the staff for all their efforts in helping us to re-open the house this year."

Trelissick House will be open daily from June 15 – October 30 2022, 11am - 4pm.

Normal admission charges apply.
