The Cornish Seal Sanctuary's Animal Care team will be taking part in a fundraiser in order to raise money for better facilities for their resident seals.

The team's Paddle for Pools challenge will see them paddle-boarding 5km across the Helford Estuary this August as part of the SEA LIFE Trust's 'Fund Our Future' campaign.

The challenge will be taking place on August 3 and the Animal Care team say every penny raised will go towards supporting the sanctuary's £1.3million fundraising campaign to build new pools at its site in Gweek.

It is hoped the campaign will not only secure the charity’s future but also see the construction of new and improved facilities for both the animals and the care team themselves.

In an update on its social media page, The Cornish Seal Sanctuary said: "It’s time to put down the buckets and pick up the paddles.

"The Cornish Seal Sanctuary’s animal care team need your help as they get ready to Paddle For Pools!

"Part of the Fund Our Future campaign, they’re paddle-boarding 5km across the stunning Helford Estuary this August to raise money for this vital project.

"Can you help them reach their £2,000 fundraising target?"
