It's the last chance to ride a popular steam railway today before it closes until the spring.

Helston Railway is holding a Winter Steam Up, running return trips between Prospidnick and Truthell Halt throughout the day (Saturday).

There are seven planned trips, with the first leaving the station at 10.30am and then running from Prospidnick every hour on the half-hour - with final boarding at 4.30pm for a dusk trip.

Each journey takes just under an hour, to include a short stop at Truthall Halt to look around the restored station and small museum there.

The buffet carriage will also be open for all day breakfasts, cakes, snacks and drinks between 9.30am until 4.30pm, with last food orders at 3.30pm.

The railway said: "Why not come down to see us one last time this season? If you want to ride on a specific train you can book in advance, or if you prefer you can just turn up and take pot luck.

"The steam trains are planned to run at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 13.30, 14.30, 15.30 and 16.30, so the last one will be in the dark - spooky!"

Adult tickets cost £10, with £5 for children and under fives are free.

Members discounts are available through the shop for anyone who joined before the end of December.

There will also be a large collection of preloved toys needing homes up for sale.

"We are looking forward to seeing your happy faces - but remember don't bring mince pies - Colin does not need any more," added the railway. Tickets can be booked in advance at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/winter-steam-up-at-the-helston-railway-tickets-494938282727 or just turn up.
