Cornish fun at National Maritime Museum this Easter

In a collaboration with The Cornish Caretakers and the popular Ed Rowe, the museum has organised exciting activities and shows for the holidays.

All in hope to highlight the richness of Cornish history.

Titled The Cornish Caretakers and the Chest of Cornishness, the museum will explore the lives of six famous individuals from Cornwall.

The theatre show, hosted by the slightly spiky Ms Trevaskis Trelawney Tremayne and the humorous Mr Rodda Rowe Rescorla, aims to shed light on how these figures significantly impacted history.

The featured people include a world champion boxer in three weight divisions, a daring escapee from Australia in a rowing boat, a risk-taker who crossed Niagara Falls in a beer barrel, the innovator of the rocket lifesaving apparatus, a well-recognised speaker of the Cornish language, and a champion rower.

Alongside the show, Make & Take crafting workshops will be running daily, and offer attendees the unique opportunity to create their own Cornish chough.

This can be worn on their wrist and 'flown' around the museum as they explore the Cornish heroes trail.

The Cornish heroes trail, developed by illustrator Jade Alway, follows the county's map.

Visitors are encouraged to seek out the hidden heroes around the museum, learning more about their lives and the places they inhabited.

The Cornish Caretakers and the Chest of Cornishness will run three times a day at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm from Saturday, March 30 to Sunday, April 14.

The show is included in the museum's annual admission fee.

Located on Discovery Quay in Falmouth, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall hosts over 15 galleries and has a rich collection which includes the National Small Boat collection, temporary exhibitions, artworks, maps, charts and memorabilia.

The museum also features a boatbuilding workshop and library.
