Presenter of BBC Two’s Swallowed by the Sea: Ancient Egypt's Greatest Lost City, Dr Lucy Blue will be giving a fascinating talk on her experiences as a maritime archaeologist on November 26 at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth.
The documentary followed a team of maritime archaeologists as they |uncovered the remarkable city of Heracleion, lost to the sea and forgotten for over 2,000 years.
Lucy Blue says: “Maritime |archaeology offers a fascinating insight into past maritime worlds. This talk will explore the ancient seascapes within which boats and ships navigated, and through material remains, will offer |tangible connections with maritime technologies, communities and goods of trade that crossed the seas of the Indian Ocean and navigated the coasts of Cornwall in the past. ”
Tickets for the lecture, entitled Ancient Seafaring, at 6.30pm on Wednesday, November 26, are available from the Maritime Museum in Falmouth at £9.50 for lecture only and £19.50 including a two course supper. Doors and bar open from 6pm. To book call 01326 214546.
