A film marking the centenary of the Russian revolution is coming to Falmouth for one night only next week.

Revolution: New Art for a New is a bold and exciting feature documentary encapsulating a momentous period in the history of Russia and Russian Avant-Garde, of which the centenary will be in March 2017.

The film, which is directed by acclaimed filmmaker, Margy Kinmonth, draws on the collections of major Russian institutions, contributions from contemporary artists, curators and performers and personal testimony from the descendants of those involved.

It tells the stories of artists such as Chagall, Kandinsky and Malevich, exploring the fascination of how they flourished in response to the challenge of building new art for the new world, only to be broken by authority after 15 years and silenced by Stalin's socialist realism.

Revolution: New Art For A New World will be screened at the Phoenix, Falmouth on Thursday, November 10 at 7.15pm.

Tickets cost £13, or £10 with a Movie Magic card, and are available from the box office on 01326 313072, or online at falmouth.merlincinemas.co.uk.
