The Cornwall Garden Society’s (CGS) will welcome life-long gardening enthusiast and self-confessed 'plantaholic' Howard Wills to give two lectures at the start of November.

With many years’ experience of growing a wide range of plants at Fernwood in Devon, the nursery he manages in an environmentally sensitive way, Howard Wills has exhibited at all the major Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Shows, and has been awarded RHS Gold Medals at Chelsea, Hampton Court Palace, Gardeners’ World Live, Tatton Park, Malvern and RHS Wisley Flower Shows.

He also holds National Council for the Conservation of Plants & Gardens (NCCPG) National Collections of sempervivum and jovibarba species and cultivars of alpine houseleeks.

Sempervivums will be his subject on Tuesday, November 7, at 7.30pm at the Alverton Hotel in Truro, whilst The Beauty of Leaves will be his focus on Wednesday, November 8, at 2.30pm at Trethorne Leisure Park in Launceston.

These lectures are free for CGS members. Non-members are welcome to attend to find out more about the society and donations are gratefully received.

The CGS is a charity that exists to encourage and improve the science, art and practice of horticulture in all its branches; share knowledge about gardening and Cornwall’s rich garden heritage, and conserve the county’s natural environment. The society is affiliated to the RHS and its patron is HRH The Prince of Wales.
