John Dyer has released eight new paintings that he has been working on this summer.

The paintings feature many parts of Cornwall, from Holywell Bay to Pendennis Castle, Porthcurno and Porthgwarra beaches. They also feature John’s idiosyncratic and loved seagulls.

The painting shown here features Portscatho, a pretty coastal village on the Roseland peninsula. John painted the harbour while surrounded by wildflowers and the sounds of village life rising from below him. The painting captures the beauty, colour, fun and life of this much-loved Cornish fishing village.

John uses purple hues in the background for the rocks and buildings to create depth and a tranquil, relaxed feel.

The new work can be viewed at the John Dyer Gallery in Falmouth.
