The St Ives Beer and Cider Festival returns to the town’s Guildhall over the bank holiday weekend and promises to be better than ever.

The event, organised by St Ives Brewery, runs from Friday, August 25, until Sunday, August 27, and entry is just £5 for the whole weekend.

Drinkers will be treated to the usual big variety of beers and ciders, including St Ives Brewery’s new IPA and revamped XPA, which have been going down very well in local pubs and bars this summer.

Last year’s event attracted more than 2,000 people across the three days, and this time around brewery owner and festival organiser, Marco Amura, wants to see an even bigger turnout, estimating that some 5,000 pints could be sunk between Friday and Sunday.

He said: “The St Ives Beer Festival is a huge part of our year. It gives us a great opportunity to meet our customers and see how our new beers are going down. We treat it as our big summer blowout and we can't wait to pour you all a pint.”

As ever, there will be live entertainment throughout the weekend, with headliners including the Sandy Acre 7, 50 Year Storm and the Dirty Livin’ Rhythm Band. And if beer’s not your thing, don’t worry – there will be a wine and spirit bar, too.

Festival doors open on Friday, August 27, at 5pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from noon onwards.
