Five master musicians from radically different traditions will push boundaries in a series of concerts/ sound installations starting this evening, which have been devised and lead by Tim West at Kestle Barton.

On successive days a collaboration lead by Tim West with Matthew Barley will gradually move from linked solo improvisations on day one and will then combine in duets, trios and quartets, finishing with a group quintet performance on Thursday, October 15.

During the day on Thursday, the final day, there will be time for the audience to participate with the five musicians, and musicians from all abilities are encouraged. The groups previous work with total beginners has shown that inexperienced performers can and do create extraordinary music - 'unhindered by the need to prove themselves and freed from convention'.

The remarkable sessions kick off tonight, Friday October 10 with Solo improvisations from a single linked thread.

Tomorrow, Saturday October 11will see ten possible pairings forming a six hour tag duet.

On Tuesday, October 13 ten trios will be explored methodically, while on the morning of Wednesday October 14 five quartets will play.

Thursday, October 15th there will be a single tapestry of the whole group that will span the day, which will see musicians joining and then leaving. From 2pm to 3pm there will be no boundary between the group and the audience and participation is encouraged.

On Thursday evening from 7.30 to 9.30 there will be a concert in the gallery by the members of Spontonality.
