Hosanna! - a candlelit concert of carols from the 16th Century to the present day will be held in the Long Barn at Roselidden Farm, Trevenen Bal near Helston this weekend.
Nigel Wicken has chosen a delightful programme of music for the Christmas concert by Camerata Kernow on Sunday, December 18. He is well known for finding outstanding works that are rarely performed, and this concert is no exception.
Those attending will be transported in time to the 16th century to hear the story of Christ’s birth in settings by Michael Praetorius in Latin and German, followed by the short mass “Dixit Maria” by Hans Leo Hassler. Antony White will play continuo on viol.
Nigel has chosen modern settings of traditional carols, by John Tavener, Philip Radcliffe, Will Todd, Philip Stopford, and Sally Beamish to complete the concert.
All proceeds will support the invaluable work of the Cornwall Music Therapy Trust. Tickets are £10, to include light refreshments, and can be reserved in advance from Peter Hadfield on 01326 558748 or peter@roselidden.co.uk.
