Madrid-born, Chicago-raised, Cornwall-based singer/songwriter Sarah McQuaid’s last two gigs at the Penlee Park Theatre were completely rained out, but she’s hoping that the third time’s the charm when she plays the venue on Friday July 20.

Recently honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Ards International Guitar Festival in Northern Ireland, Sarah has also drawn critical praise for her voice, which has been likened to both malt whiskey and melted chocolate.

She has also been recognised for her engaging rapport with audiences. The Huffington Post wrote: “I’ve attended hundreds of concerts of all kinds, and her subtle mastery onstage launches her straight into my fave shows ever.”

With the release of her new album, 2018’s If We Dig Any Deeper It Could Get Dangerous, she has expanded her battery of instruments to include piano, electric guitar and drums. Blues guitar legend Michael Chapman, who produced the album, said: “The precision and sophistication of the writing and playing blows me away. I am so glad to be involved.”

At the Penlee Park gig there will be a dairy and gluten free home-made vegetable curry, which can be pre-ordered for £5 when tickets are booked with CRBO. Hot drinks, soft drinks and snack will also be available.

The show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £12 if pre-ordered or £14 on the door, and can be purchased at www.crbo.co.uk or by phoning 01726 879500.
