Electronic pioneers The Chemical Brothers maintained their reputation as one of the best dance acts to see live with their performance at The Eden Project last night (Friday, June 28).

The space age setting among Eden’s biomes only functioned to enhance the incredible audio visual experience that the electronic music duo are renowned for.

With the weather being slightly cloudier than it has been this set the perfect temperature to dance, and dance the crowd did.

Composed of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, The Chemical Brothers originated in Manchester 30 years ago and have been producing ground breaking music ever since, with last night’s gig showcasing the highlights of their banging collection.

The crowds at Eden were in high spirits as The Brothers opened with their Grammy nominated track from 2015, Go, accompanied by their mesmerising mix of animated light show and surreal artistic video.

The early part of the set led with their more recent music including tracks released this year like MAH and Got to Keep On. These were seamlessly blended into their older music using The Brothers classic spotless mixing style.

As they played Hey Boy, Hey Girl the green lasers coming from the stage were reflected by a sea of green phone lights from the crowd, all attempting to capture the moment.

Saturate was accompanied by the release of giant balloons from behind the stage which were enthusiastically dispersed. The theatrics of the performance peaked with a giant robot appearing on stage, walking around to the accompaniment of Hoops.

Galvanize met with a chorus of “my finger is on the button” that spread through the Eden valley.

The gig came to an end with the act’s older material, playing well known Leave Home from their first album released all the way back in 1995 before going out with a bang with classic final track Block Rockin' Beats.
