Magical comedian and ex-accountant, Ian Keable, is appearing in Conjuring Up Comedy, a one man magic show with VAT (where VAT stands for "very amusing tricks").

He is performing at several venues in Cornwall, including the Tolmen Centre, Constantine, on Thursday, February 15, at 7.30 pm (box office: 01326 341 046), and Leedstown Village Hall, on Saturday, February 17, at 7.30 pm (box office: 01736 850 332).

This is Ian's second tour of the Westcountry. In November ,2006, he performed several dates in Devon. He said: "I was amazed by the reaction of the audience. They were incredibly enthusiastic and really enjoyed the combination of anecdotes and magic. People do find it intriguing. I used to be an accountant and then made such a radical career change to become a magician: and this is what this show is about - a journey from ledger to legerdemain!

"The first one man show I did was soon after I had given up the day job. The reception was so good, I decided to do a follow up - some 15 years later! Having worked with great success in many arenas since - from comedy clubs to cruise ships - I can be even funnier with my magic."

It is also much more personal. "All the incidents I tell about myself are absolutely true, but I only tell those which are amusing - and most of those turn out to be disaster stories."

Any stories he doesn't tell in the show? "Several years ago now I was booked at a magic convention in the USA in Washington. The show started earlier than anticipated and when I was introduced I was still eating my meal. That was not a happy experience!"
