King Arthur is coming home as Michael Morpurgo’s epic tale of magic and heroism takes to the stage at Hall For Cornwall this October.

Spectacular sword fights, a battle between good and evil, a tragic love story and enthralling storytelling all come together to create a memorable family show in this production by the award-winning Story Pocket Theatre.

The well-loved stories of King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, Sir Lancelot, the Lady of the Lake and the sword Excalibur come to life in this exciting adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s best-selling novel.

When a boy becomes stranded at sea, he is rescued by a mysterious old man who claims to be none other than the great King Arthur Pendragon. Through the old king’s magical storytelling, the boy and the audience are transported back to the days of Camelot, the Knights of the Round Table and the sword in the stone.

Legendary adventures and battles are all part of this exciting new family theatre production, which comes to Truro after a successful premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it won rave reviews from critics and audiences.

This fast-moving family production is the first of Michael Morpurgo’s novels to be adapted by Story Pocket Theatre. Author of children’s classics such as War Horse and Private Peaceful, and former Children’s Laureate, Michael Morpurgo has been Story Pocket Theatre’s patron since the company formed in 2013, and gave special permission to bring his novel to life on stage.

He said: “It was apparent straight away that Story Pocket’s focus was on sharing stories in a bright, imaginative way. My passion for stories and writing has taken me all over the world and I am lucky enough to see my stories in print and on stage and screen. It was Story Pocket’s passion for story telling that struck me… I am delighted to be the Patron of Story Pocket Theatre Company.”

Michael Morpurgo's King Arthur is at the Hall For Cornwall on Sunday, October 15, at 2pm and Monday, October 16, at 10.30am and 7pm. For tickets and information go to hallforcornwall.co.uk or call 01872 262466.
