THE Minack Theatre is set to be transformed into a stunning outdoor cinema with a difference for a weekend of comedy.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Whisky Galore! will be on the big screen at the clifftop venue at Porthcurno over the weekend of October 5 to 7.

On Friday, October 5, and Saturday, October 6, the Minack will host an audience interactive screening of the Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

The classic British slapstick comedy will be brought to life with audience members encouraged to join in with creating the film sound effects.

Audiences will be given a goody bag on arrival filled with props and everyday items, following the cue-master to add live sound effects – en masse – to make one of the most laugh-out-loud films of all time even funnier.

On Sunday, October 7, a special screening of Whisky Galore! will be brought to life through projection mapping on the rocks.

A story of Scottish islanders plundering whisky from a stranded ship, audiences can watch the classic Ealing comedy perched in similar cliffs above an equivalent ocean.

The steeple crags of the Minack amphitheatre will come alive with projection mapping for this cinematic screening, expanding the world of the film into the surrounding scenery.

Doors will open at 7pm for the public and audiences are invited to bring their own hampers and drinks to enjoy during the performance. The film screening will then begin at 8.15pm.

The screenings are curated by Compass Presents, in partnership with the BFI’s Comedy Genius season - a UK wide celebration of film and TV comedy.

Compass Presents’ trademark ‘expanded screening’ celebrates cult films and aims to present classic cinema in new ways.

Tickets are now on sale via the Minack website at or via 01736 810181. Tickets are £14 for an adult or £7 for under-16s.
